This is a niche interest item which will appeal primarily to videogame emulation enthusiasts first and foremost, but can also be useful to budget gamers, and people who like to use their favorite console gamepads with their PC games. It also has several notable advantages over comparable converters that potential customers should be aware of. For starters, a lot has been done from a design standpoint to maximize this converters usefulness, and it offers a wide array of convenience features that people who have looked at similar converters will appreciate right away. It has a PSXPS2 gamepad port, along with Gamecube, and X Box gamepad ports, an integrated two port USB 2. When console gamepad converters were first introduced, and the technology was still immature, many comparable converters didnt support these other peripherals unless they specifically said so on the packaging which was always in fine print, so you had to look carefully, and some currently available converters still suffer from that restriction. Similar Mayflash converters for example are rumored to not support simultaneous use, or rumble for ANY console gamepad, and this converter does. Ive never used a Mayflash converter, and cant verify that this is true, but if it is, that can be a deal breaker for a lot of would be buyers, especially those purchasing specifically for emulation. This makes any converter which was designed for Windows XP incompatible unless the manufacturer is still in business, and providing ongoing support via updated drivers. It sports an array of highly useful features that many comparable converters lack, despite being yet another made in China product, it seems well made, so I woudnt imagine durability being a problem mine still works fine despite being nearly five years old now, its well supported with periodic driver updates, supports current operating systems, and is usually very affordably priced, so I have no regrets about buying it, or qualms about recommending it. I have looked at, and nearly purchased comparable gamepad converters before, and never seen one that is more feature rich, or that can serve double duty as a USB hub, which makes it a terrific two for one purchase. Its a shame its been discontinued, and most marketplace sellers ask more than the manufacturers suggested retail price when its in stock here on amazon, but despite having become hard to find, for gamers who like to use their favorite console gamepads with their PC games in general, and fans of PSXPS2, and Gamecube emulation in particular, the advantages it offers over other converters makes it well worth the effort of tracking one down.
